Routes Meigas participated in the 26th edition of the Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Scotland, in the last week of January, in which Galicia participated this year as the host area for its Showcase Scotland program.
The event, which was attended together with the Cluster of Tourism of Galicia and the City Councilor for Culture and Tourism, Román Rodríguez, served to make our country visible in a region with which we can see our Celtic roots in a prestigious music competition. Eight groups of artists from Galicia performed during the festival with musicians such as Anxo Lorenzo, Mercedes Peón, Tanxugueiras, Raíces Aéreas (Mónica de Nut), Xabier Díaz and Adufeiras de Salitre, Talabarte and the Banda das Crechas.
During the trip, Rutas Meigas had the opportunity to meet many agents in ‘Showcase Scotland’ to present our tourist services in the north of Spain. At the event, which took place next to music and tourism in the Drygate Beer Hall, Galician gastronomy also played an important role, as typical Galician products were tasted and presented.
Rutas Meigas presented its wide range of services, which includes excursions through Galicia such as the shipwreck route, the Rías Baixas route, the Cliff route, the Ribeira Sacra route. With different starting points in Galicia, all its possibilities and routes to do the St. James Way in one of its variants, tailored to the pilgrims, with or without support, individually or in groups and also by bike, and various experiences of gastronomy and wine tourism in North of spain.
Rutas Meigas also accompanied the Regional Minister for Culture and Tourism, Román Rodríguez, to the inauguration of a milestone on the Camino de Santiago in George Square, where they were received by the Mayor of Glasgow, Eva Bolander, who later hosted a visit to Scotland Town hall.
This landmark is located 1475 kilometers from Santiago Cathedral, the destination of the Camino de Santiago.
